Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 22, 2024

Welcome to SnapCal. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the Application includes:

  • Google Account Information: When you sign in using your Google account, we access your basic profile information, such as your name, email address, and profile picture, to create and manage your account.
  • Google Calendar Access: To provide our services, we require your permission to access your Google Calendars. We request 'readonly' access to list your calendars and 'write' access to create events on your behalf. We only perform these actions when you explicitly authorize them within the app.
  • Image Data: We process the images you upload to extract event details. These images are transmitted securely to Google's Gemini AI service for analysis and extraction.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected via the Application to:

  • Create and manage your unique user account.
  • Extract event details (date, time, location) from images provided by you.
  • Create and save new events directly to your selected Google Calendar.
  • Maintain your subscription status and monthly usage counts.

3. Data Sharing, Transfer, and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to others. We share Google user data only with the following third-party service providers necessary to operate the Service:

  • Google Firebase: Used for authentication and secure database storage of your event history and account settings.
  • Google AI (Gemini): Used strictly for the technical purpose of extracting text and event details from your uploaded images.

Data is shared with these providers solely to perform these functions on our behalf and they are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Image Data: Images uploaded for extraction are processed transiently. We do not store the original image files on our servers after the AI extraction process is complete.

Account Data: We retain your profile information and event history as long as your account is active.

Deletion Requests: You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at support@snapcal.app. Upon receiving a request, we will delete your user profile and all associated data from our active databases within 30 days.

5. Data Security and Protection

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your sensitive data:

  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL/TLS) technology.
  • Encryption at Rest: We utilize Google Cloud's underlying infrastructure which automatically encrypts your data when stored on disk.
  • Access Control: We enforce strict Firestore Security Rules to ensure that users can only access their own profile and event data. No unauthorized access to other users' information is possible.
  • Secure Authentication: We use Google OAuth 2.0 for authentication, ensuring that your credentials never touch our servers.

6. Google API Services User Data Policy

SnapCal's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
